Hello GoodBye Show Info – Saturday 19th February 2011

*STOP PRESS* seminal post-punk legends The Monochrome Set perform live in session on Hello GoodBye this Saturday lunchtime.

Tune in between noon and 1.30pm on 104.4 FM in Central London or on-line
via: www.resonancefm.com

North London circa 1976, a young band of school chums, namely; Adam Ant, Lester Square, Andy Warren & Bid write and perform music together under the inauspicious name, The B-Sides.
Soon after, Adam Ant departs to embark upon his hugely successful pursuit of Chart-Topping A-Side singles. Meanwhile, the remaining trio carry on undeterred – albeit with a new moniker and new members – as The Monochrome Set.
Henceforth, this unashamedly fey, art-punk combo set forth on their seemingly hell-bent mission to studiously eschew de rigueur of fame and fortune afforded by their former band mate and in doing so unwittingly draw up an aesthetic blueprint that is later traced out by a select band of British musicians including, The Smiths, Blur & Franz Ferdinand (to name but a few!)

Set your dial to 104.4 FM in order to witness this ‘rare as hens teeth‘ live performance from the now newly reformed Monochrome Set, hear them fine tune their collective antenna prior to setting off on a series of sold-out shows from the UK to Japan and beyond!

Also, enjoy the final episode of Duncan McAfee’s 5 part, sound art mini-series “Your Voice Travels”, in which he explores the personal relationship with the human voice through a series of semi-autobiographical poetic vignettes combined with original music and audio artworks.

Hello GoodBye Show Info – Saturday 12th February 2011

Tune in between noon and 1.30pm on 104.4 FM in Central London or on-line

Jack Hayter and Pheromoans take to the airwaves this Saturday lunchtime on The Hello GoodBye Show.

Following the bumper harvests he once reaped with his former outfits; Hefner, Dollboy & Spongefinger, Jack Hayter can now be found ploughing an equally rich and fertile furrow with his solo output. On his new 4 track EP ‘Sucky Tart’ (Audio Antihero: Specialists in Commercial Suicide) his muse is typically located in the more world weary and downtrodden corners of life. Jack once again demonstrates his superb songwriting abilities, while aided and abetted with a fine set of gravel soaked pipes!

Pheromoans return to the show, fully armed with their ‘(how) lo-fi (can we go)’ canon of tragi-comic tales and suburban pratfalls, all laced together with a heavy dose of anti-depressents and rank musicianship!

Plus, the penultimate episode of “Your Voice Travels” a five part mini-series by Duncan McAfee that explores the personal relationship with the human voice through a series of semi-autobiographical poetic vignettes combined with original music and audio artworks.

Hello GoodBye Show Info – Saturday 5th February 2011

Tune in between noon and 1.30pm on 104.4 FM in Central London or on-line
via: www.resonancefm.com

Performing live on the show this lunchtime we have Ulysses Storm & Songdog.

Ulysses Storm play bombastic off-kilter twisted blues rock that respectfully kneels before the sonic overlords; Captain Beefheart, Jon Spencer, Beck and Tom Waits. U.S. frontman Michael Wetherburn is no stranger to Hello GoodBye having been a guest on a number of previous occasions with his equally ‘swerve ball’ outfit The Hellset Orchestra.

Also, Welsh & Scottish rooted Celtic folk-noir from Songdog. Lyndon Morgans, Karl Woodward and Dave Paterson combine to create soundscapes for Morgans’ vignettes on life, love and loss. The old punk spirit, realigned for modern times, remains intact in the uncompromising and explicit lyricism explored in the bands songs.

Plus, episode three of “Your Voice Travels” by Duncan McAfee. This five part mini-series explores the personal relationship with the human voice through a series of semi-autobiographical poetic vignettes laced together with original music and audio artworks.

Hello GoodBye Show Info – Saturday 29th January 2011

Tune in between noon and 1.30pm on 104.4 FM in Central London or on-line
via: www.resonancefm.com

As per usual on HG, we have 2 different sets of live performers taking to the airwaves, with debut appearances from Duke Garwood and Benjamin Prosser.

South London based artist Duke Garwood has fermented a 100% pure potion of grizzled and meditative avant-blues for his latest offering ‘Dreamboatsafari’ (Fire Records) This afternoon he embarks upon his sonic quest with his long standing cohorts – and top-notch improvisers – Paul May (drums) and Dylan Bates (violin) playing alongside him.

Benjamin Prosser has appeared on the show on a number of occasions (Jamboree, Congregation & The Tap Collective) but this is his first solo offering. As with all of Ben’s previous outfits, his propensity towards a contemporary blues style prevails, propelled along with a delicate and yet seemingly relentless intensity.

Also, tune-in to hear the second episode of “Your Voice Travels” by Duncan McAfee. This five part mini-series explores the personal relationship with the human voice through a series of semi-autobiographical poetic vignettes laced together with original music and audio artworks.

…and we have the second part of our interview with The Jeffrey Lewis and Peter Stampfel Folk Show conducted by the poet / musician Jack Underwood.
