Expect; A stripped down live session from two members of the long standing post-punk / cow-punk legends The Mekons. Featuring, Sally Timms (voice and shruti box) and Susie Honeyman (voice, violin and piano) performing under the flexible moniker Mini-Mekons, all ahead of a full band appearance soon due to take place here in London at The Garage in Highbury on Friday 23rd October. The original incarnation of The Mekons first sprang to life back at the height of the punk movement in 1976, formed as an art collective based in Leeds, to this day they remain one of the most prolific groups from that period and are as active and as vital as ever a full 50 years further down the line, with the band’s finely whet cutting edge as intact and razor sharp as ever.
Also, solo artist Kowa Axis (aka James Barry) performs a debut live session on the program with his electric guitar and a sea of effects pedals to hand (and foot). Expect a densely absorbent, improvised wall of noise, closely informed by an initial appreciation of ‘metal’ music so enjoyed in his youth.

Expect; Finland based / Midlands born Joss Cope returns to the show to perform live in session just ahead of his gig tomorrow afternoon (Sunday 4th October) at The Betsey Trotwood pub in Farringdon, alongside Matthew Edwards and Anton Barbeau. Joss will be showcasing some of his super-melodic new music, as can be heard on his forthcoming LP ‘Dreamtime Flies’, soon due for release on the independent imprint Gare Du Nord Records.
Plus, also playing live in the studio we have Seven-Headed Raven, a folk-horror band playing music from and inspired by the Latvian and British folk traditions. 7HR are hosting an evening of folk-horror, with lush contemporary piano and mediaeval electronic madness on Friday 30th October at Heath Street Baptist Church, Hampstead.

Expect; Archangel Complex (FKA Tolerance Manoeuvre) performing live in session, creating a cinematic and storytelling soundscape using a combination of guitar, trumpet, drums & vocals.
Also, a stripped down acoustic live session by Lou Terry, a South London-based musician, genre-mangler and activist. Lou’s wonky new project fuses strange technology with timeless songwriting, the current LP ‘Animal, Mineral, Vegetable, Spectacle’ is out via Divine Schism, with a launch party occurring this evening at The Ivy House community pub in Nunhead, South London.
Plus, Matt Ashton from The Leaf Library pops by the studio to discuss and air tracks from ‘Library Music: Volume Two’, the band’s new collection of vibrant and varied electronic indie pop rarities. Following the much-loved ‘Library Music: Volume One’ (2022), and hot on the heels of this year’s critically acclaimed ‘After The Rain, Strange Seeds’, London group The Leaf Library return with a second journey through the margins of their catalogue. Gathering together rare recordings, compilation tracks, limited edition releases, collaborations and hidden gems from their ever-expanding musical world.

Plus, Andy Delamere from Liverpool’s Wizards of Twiddly joins us in the studio to discuss the group’s rare upcoming concert at The Sound Lounge in Surbiton. Formed in Liverpool 1988 the Wizards of Twiddly create wildly ambitious music from a vast and colourful palette with large chunks of humour and theatricality.
Also, Michael Evill joins us to highlight The Synthesis Co-Op, an artist-run, not-for-profit label and support network for electronic and experimental musicians.
