Live music in the studio from original Post-Punk pioneer Spizz (who boldly goes where no previous Spizz incarnation has ever gone before… ACOUSTIC!) and fine purveyors of British Afro-Pop High-Life, AJ Holmes & the Hackney Empire.
Spizz returns to Hello GoodBye for his umpteenth live appearance, accompanied by his now long standing axeman Luca Comencini for a once in a lifetime ‘unplugged’ live performance. Arguably most noted for his Sci-Fi indie pop classic ‘Where’s Captain Kirk’, Spizz has been an ever present on the live internattional Punk circuit since the late 1970’s and is still going strong.
Dispel your winter blues with AJ Holmes and the Hackney Empire. Imagine Graceland reinterpreted by David Byrne, with some wry East End wit thrown in for good measure, and you won’t be far off. So dig out your calypso heels, line up the piña colladas and get ready to join the (British) African high-life.

Hello GoodBye – 09.03.13 – Staer + Franziska Lantz

Norwegian noise-mongers Staer and London based, Swiss performance artist / poet Franziska Lantz perform live in the studio today!

Norwegian trio Staer embelish their current UK tour with a live set on Hello GoodBye. Sounding akin to an angle grinder arguing with a pile driver in a cement mixer during a fire drill, Staer successfully mutilate the basic elements of bass, guitar and drums into an unhinged, relentless onslaught of pounding monotonous joy. Tune in and enjoy!

Franziska Lantz is an artist/musician based in London.
Flowing notions of building as drawing as singing as growing as dancing as composing produce cross-pollinated constellations between her audio and visual work. In staged and arranged performances FL has been using masks, props and backdrops to set the scenes to deep beats and physical instrumentals with vocal associations.

From 2009-2012 Lantz has been producing the weekly Radio programme “DriftShift” on ResonanceFM, where found sounds and texts are distributed in the form of a semi-autobiographical audio soil.

Hello GoodBye – Sat. 2nd March – Ft: Shopping + Olivia Chaney

We will also be playing tunes by Dog Chocolate, Dirty Viv, Unit, J. Temperance, Marcus Skeltonius, Bob Cryer, The 5th Runway & Thom Driver, who all purchased air-time for our Pay-As-You-Go Resonance fundraiser.

Shopping consists of three London based musicians; Billy Easter, Rachel Aggs and Andrew Milk, who from Nov 2012 all found themselves in the position of having free day times. They got together to form a band in the basement of Power Lunches arts cafe and venue, where Rachel and Andrew both work and regularly put on shows. There a star was born in the form of SHOPPING. They plan to release a 7″ single in May to coincide with their first European/UK tour, and an album in the Autumn, both to be released on Milk Records.

Olivia Chaney was originally booked to appear on the show at the beginning of February but due to a serious bout of the flu she had to cancel at the last minute, however, fortunately for us we have succeeded in re-scheduling her for a live session on HG this afternoon.
Quintessentially English but with a modern twist, Olivia Chaney developed her unique musical style after picking up the guitar and the Indian harmonium, she has since gone on to beguile audiences from Glastonbury to the Royal Opera House and New York’s Webster Hall.

Expect concept bands, new iterations of old projects, musical experiments, and collective favourites from a sprawling bunch of brilliant weirdos.

Rosie Okae creates experimental pop, in collaboration with NOW’s Justin Paton, imaginatively blending a diverse mix of styles and influences. The openness and appealing fragility of her lyrics are strikingly complimented by the richness of her vocalisation.
