Today: ‘Swell Maps 1972-1980’ is a new publication written by Jowe Head (aka Stephen Bird), tracing the formative machinations of the legendary primitive-pop / impro-punk pioneers Swell Maps, a band that Jowe first formed alongside fellow school friend Adrian Godfrey (aka Nikki Sudden) and his younger brother Kevin Godfrey (aka Epic Soundtracks) in the early 1970’s and who were later catapulted into the common consciousness with the release of the classic 1979 debut LP ‘A Trip To Marineville’ (Rough Trade). Includes an in depth interview with Jowe Head, plus exclusive rare & unheard recordings.
