Saturday 6th November, today; poet, author & band leader Bertie Marshall. Bertie Marshall’s artistic odyssey begins back in the mid-seventies when a small group of like-minded, young teenage suburbanites (including soon to be Banshees, Siouxsie Sioux & Steve Severin) found themselves cast as the unintentional stylista’s within the nascent London Punk scene and were reluctantly dubbed as the ‘Bromley Contingent’ in the tabloid media. Bertie’s own artistic expression has hitherto focussed primarily on the possibilities presented by the written word, with a constant stream of poems, songs and novels flowing out from the nib of his pen. His new LP ‘Exhibit’ is a retrospective collection of poems & songs dating back from the 1980’s & 90’s and is released via the fiercely independent London based imprint Upset The Rhythm.
