Jowe Head (aka Stephen Bird) is a British guitarist, singer, and visual artist, was a founder member of Swell Maps before joining the Television Personalities. He has also released a large amount of material as a solo artist and as band-leader or collaborator in various groups. After Swell Maps broke up in 1980, he embarked on a solo career, and performed with The Palookas, The Househunters, Angel Racing Food, Eleventh Hour Adventists, the Demi-Monde, Rude Mechanicals, and Infernal Contraption. His current projects are Swell Maps C21, and Infernal Trinity.
Luke Haines has recorded music under various names and with various bands, including The Auteurs, Baader Meinhof and Black Box Recorder. Haines formed The Auteurs in 1991, and they were nominated for a Mercury Prize. Recently, Haines and Peter Buck, formerly of R.E.M., collaborated on an album, Beat Poetry for Survivalists, which was released in 2020.
