David Lance Callahan has been a singer, songwriter and instrumentalist best known for work with The Wolfhounds and Moonshake. The Wolfhounds contributed to the C86 cassette (regarded as a pivotal moment for independent music in the UK).

Moonshake subsequently contributed to the development of British post-rock.

Callahan currently records and performs solo singer-songwriter work informed by

folk, blues and experimental sound, describing himself as a “dissonant electric folk singer.” He has also worked with Swell Maps C21, PJ Harvey, McCarthy,

Stereolab, as musician, producer or collaborator.

including The Auteurs, Baader Meinhof and Black Box Recorder. Haines formed

The Auteurs in 1991, and they were nominated for a Mercury Prize. Soon after,

Haines formed solo side project called Baader-Meinhof named after the German

far-left terrorist group. Haines formed Black Box Recorder with John Moore and

Sarah Nixey. Recently, Haines and Peter Buck, formerly of R.E.M., collaborated on

an album, Beat Poetry for Survivalists, which was released in 2020.
